Join a positive, supportive team with strong shared valuesThe Orygen Specialist Program (OSP), part of Melbourne Health, provides early intervention mental health services to young people aged 15–25 with complex needs. OSP also partners with Orygen, the National Centre of Excellence in Youth Mental Health, which operates four regional headspace centres.
The Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) is a key member of the multidisciplinary team, providing high-quality, evidence-based care and supporting clinical leadership within the inpatient unit. The ANUM assists the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) in ensuring effective day-to-day operations.

About The Role
Lead the delivery of recovery-focused, evidence-based nursing care within a multidisciplinary team.Support staff development through supervision, mentoring, and education across all levels. Work collaboratively with young people, families, and lived experience workers to ensure trauma-informed, inclusive care.Maintain clinical standards through documentation, risk management, and compliance. Foster a positive, safe team culture and contribute to ongoing service improvement.
About You
Formal Qualifications:
Registered Nurse under the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act (2009)Bachelors in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing or equivalent; or Bachelor’s in Nursing plus Postgrad Mental Health Nursing
Essential
Minimum 5 years’ experience in mental health nursing, including acute care and youth case managementStrong skills in assessment, care planning, and recovery-oriented interventionsDemonstrated leadership in multidisciplinary environmentsCommitted to professional standards, development, and legislative compliance
Desirable
Knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., Mental Health & Wellbeing Act 2022, Children & Young Persons Act)Awareness of key mental health frameworks and standardsFamiliarity with local community and human services organisations
