Salary: $94,563 - $105,910 + 15.4% superannuation

We're seeking a confident and capable APS 6 Senior Payroll Officer to lead payroll delivery, support workforce wellbeing, and drive continuous improvement in a high-performing team. You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring accuracy, compliance and excellent service for all payroll operations-while contributing to a broader HR strategy grounded in purpose and innovation.

Provide technical payroll advice to staff and managers, resolving complex issues
Interpret APS legislation, policies and agreements to guide sound HR decisions
Contribute to payroll-related audits, reviews, and reporting processes
Identify and drive continuous improvement across systems, policies, and procedures
Maintain records in HRIS and electronic filing systems with the utmost integrity
Train and support APS5 advisors while collaborating closely with senior HR leaders
3-5+ years of APS payroll experience, with a solid understanding of federal entitlements, conditions and compliance frameworks
Expertise using Aurion (or similar HRIS) in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to analyse data, resolve anomalies and make informed decisions
Strong interpersonal and communication skills-you're confident advising, influencing and collaborating across levels
A problem-solving mindset with a passion for improving systems and enhancing service delivery
