The Parklife Metro consortium, working in partnership with the NSW Government, is delivering a transformative metro rail infrastructure project in Greater Western Sydney. 
 
Our consortium, which includes Plenary, RATP Dev, Siemens, and Webuild, is leveraging metro rail expertise to deliver this city-shaping project under a Public-Private Partnership model, This will provide significant economic stimulus for Western Sydney.
 
The Role: 
 
Approved Engineer (Technical Office) – MEP Disciplines (Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing)
 
The Technical Office is responsible to manage the Technical and Engineering requirements of the Project, ensuring that Temporary Works Designs (from the initial brief to the final AFC status) and Permanent Works are correctly implemented, correct implementation of the Monitoring Requirements, approving the permanent materials, releasing the critical Hold Points where an engineering supervision is required, supporting the site team in all the technical and engineering topics, supporting the team in technically resolving the NCRs.
 
The Approved Engineer (Civil Works) will be part of the Project Technical Office, appointed by the Technical Manager and Project Director, and reporting to the Approved Engineers Manager. The Approved Engineer will act independently from the construction delivery teams and be selected on the basis that they have the experience and qualifications required to operate at Engineering Manager level for specified construction activities. The role will also have an Engineering Manager TAO level.
 
The Approved Engineers have been selected from the engineering team and will be available to release Hold points (HP) on the basis that the preceding Inspection & Test Plans (ITP) activities are completed noting that they are not dedicated full time to this role and will require the Project Engineers and Senior Project Engineers to have undertaken the preceding ITPs tasks with evidence provided. The role will also be responsible to review and approve the Permanent Material proposed the Site Team, review and approve the technical proposal for NCRs rectification works.
 
 Responsibilities: 
  • Regularly undertake Inspections to ensure that the HPs released by the PE/SPEs have been installed in accordance with the latest AFC Design Documentation;
  • Ensure that the construction works are proceeding in accordance with the latest ITPs and Design Specifications, including releasing and witnessing HP & Witness Points (WP);
  • Meeting regularly with the delivery team to resolve technical issues with the support of the broader Technical Office/Engineering Dept;
  • Participate in the interaction between design and construction resources during the design change, including effective coordination meetings;
  • Ensure that the latest approved construction documentation is available for use;
  • Interfacing with the Systems D&C JV partner to ensure that the final product is fit for purpose;
  • Maintain the Safety in Design and safety assurance process to effectively manage safety risk from design change through to construction
  • Review and approve Permanent Material in relation to the assigned discipline
  • Review and approve technical solution for the NCR resolution, understanding when these may have a structural/durability/functional implications/impacts, and if so recommend to obtain designers’ approval/considerations
Criteria:
  • Bachelors of Civil Engineers is mandatory
  • Experience in the construction/engineering environment
  • Extensive design experience with exposure and delivery of civil projects
  • Experience in developing, analysing and reporting on performance, compliance, and non-conformance
  • Experience in interpretation and application of contracts
  • Significant site experience preferably with the application of the design change process
  • Preferably with experience in broader engineering disciplines including but not limited to Structures, MEP, Rail & Civil.
