Agricultural and Horticultural Mobile Plant Operator

Our client Young Hill Farms is currently in search of an experienced full-time Agricultural and Horticultural Mobile Plant Operator to join their dynamic workforce of progressive and total cropping farming operations. The farm is conveniently located in Beaumont, Esperance, Western Australia 6450.

Task & responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

• Preparing and positioning machinery for operational use.
• Adjusting the speed, height, and depth of agricultural implements as needed.
• Operating machinery for the handling, lifting, and cutting of trees.
• Employing tractor-drawn and self-propelled machinery for tasks including ploughing fields, seeding, fertilising, soil cultivation, and crop harvesting, with a focus on avoiding crop damage.
• Managing attachments to lift, swing, and organise trees and logs, alongside operating auxiliary equipment like wood chippers and log splitters.
• Feeding felled trees into processing equipment to remove branches and cut them into logs, then loading the logs onto stockpiles and transferring them into trucks.
• Maintaining records of log quantities and fulfilling work reporting duties.
• Conducting regular equipment maintenance and addressing minor repair needs.

Qualification & experience

• Have at least a relevant Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) Certificate II or equivalent, and have at least one and a half (1.5) years (20 hours plus per week) relevant post-qualification experience; or
• Have at least a relevant Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) Certificate III or equivalent or a higher-level qualification, and have at least one (1) year (20 hours plus per week) relevant post-qualification experience; or
• Have at least one (1) year (38 hours plus per week) relevant experience.
