Task & responsibilities

  •  Develop and implement budgetary and accounting policies to guide financial decision-making and ensure organisational goals are met.
  •  Prepare and present financial statements, including Profit and Loss reports and Balance Sheets, to management, shareholders, and regulatory bodies, ensuring compliance with applicable standards.
  •  Work with the internal and external stakeholders to ensure reporting to Senior Management is the most efficient for effective decision making.
  •  Develop the required business modelling of all growth opportunities to provide sufficient information that the team is confident in the decisions it makes about pursuing individual opportunities and that can then flow into he budgeting/management system going forward.
  • Conduct financial investigations, perform audits, and prepare detailed reports.
  •  Prepare and participate in establishing annual budgets, cash flows, and balance sheets.
  •  Overview monthly results including reporting on all costs over budget, participate with management to control all costs to ensure that we have the highest productivity at the lowest cost.
  •  Evaluate cash flow and assess financial risks related to capital investment projects, providing recommendations for informed decision-making.
  •  Analyse and interpret financial data to provide clear, actionable insights for our clients.
  •  Manage and exceed client expectations with professional, personalized service.
  •  Manage multiple priorities effectively, ensuring quality and timely delivery of services.
  •  Prepare complete and accurate audit work papers.
  • Prepare and provide financial and taxation advice on business structures, plans, and operations.
  •  Ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial information by providing assurance that financial reports comply with statutory requirements and accounting standards.
  •  Liaise with financial institutions and brokers to establish funds management arrangements
  •  Ensure robust internal control systems are in place to safeguard financial assets, prevent fraud, and ensure financial integrity.
  •  Introduce and maintain accounting systems, and advising on the selection and application of computer-based accounting systems.
  •  Monitor and manage accounts receivable and payable, ensuring timely collection of receivables and the accurate payment of creditors.
  • Maintain records for fixed asset additions, disposals, and depreciation, ensuring proper accounting and reporting of asset-related transactions.
  •  Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, including compliance with superannuation obligations and end-of-year tax requirements such as Single Touch Payroll (STP).
  •  Prepare quarterly Business Activity Statements (BAS) and monthly tax reports, ensuring timely submission and compliance with tax regulations.
  •  Provide guidance and support in the preparation of financial forecasts and long-term financial planning.
  •  Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate the year-end audit process and ensure the timely submission of financial reports.

Qualification & experience

  •  Tertiary degree in a related discipline.
  •  Minimum 2 years of experience as an Accountant, preferably in the building and construction industry.
  •  Strong Zero/ MYOB accounting skills.
  •  Technical proficiency with MYOB accounting software and Microsoft Word, Excel, outlook.
  •  Ability to maintain up to date knowledge of taxation and other relevant legislation and rulings.
  •  Ability to accurately interpret taxation and other relevant legislation and rulings.
  •  Confidence to advise clients based on sound knowledge.
  •  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  •  Willingness to learn, show initiative and be a positive "team player".
