Duties of the role may include, but not limited to:

  • Preparing and reviewing financial statements as well as ensuring adherence to Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) and tax regulations.

  • Generating monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports.

  • Overseeing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end processes, including the preparation of journals for revenue, expense accruals, and ad hoc adjustments.

  • Performing balance sheet reconciliations, reviewing general ledger entries, and reporting on intercompany transactions.

  • Supporting the Finance manager and management team in forecasting financial plans, utilising past budget reviews and accounting policies to provide recommendations for performance improvement.

  • Assisting in the preparation of tax reports, conducting financial reviews, and providing guidance on business acquisitions, capital funding, and liquidation.

  • Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of business accounting systems in addition to maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements in financial reporting.

  • Updating the account chart to evaluate cash flow and financial exposure for new business projects.

  • Aiding in the preparation of Business Activity Statements (BAS), Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT), and company tax returns.

  • Presenting detailed analysis to the managing director on gross sales, marketing expenses, operational costs, and cost of sales, highlighting both risks and opportunities.

  • Supporting internal and external audit processes.

Skills & Experience Required

Qualifications & Certifications

  • Bachelor's/master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.

  • Previous experience as an Accountant, or similar role.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards and tax regulations.

  • Proficiency in accounting software such as MYOB or Xero.

  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial modelling.

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
