Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant to join our Finance team. This role will support the Chief Financial Officer in managing day-to-day accounting tasks, ensuring timely and accurate reporting, and contributing to budgeting and compliance processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable/receivable, expense claims, payroll, and reconciliations

• Prepare monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, and support statutory reporting obligations including BAS, Payroll Tax and CCS requirements

• Assist with multi-entity accounting, CCS reconciliation processes, and integration between operational childcare systems and finance platforms

• Monitor revenue and expenditure against budgets and prepare variance reports

• Support the development and review of annual budgets across business units

• Generate reports such as Aged Payables/Receivables and other financial data as required

• Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders including banks, auditors, and financial consultants

• Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures

• Identify opportunities to improve accounting systems and processes

Skills and Experience Required

• Proficiency in accounting software (Xero preferred) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

• Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices

• Experience with corporate budgeting and financial reporting

• Ability to work methodically and manage competing priorities

• Demonstrated ability to work in a values-driven environment and engage positively with non-finance stakeholders including school leaders and service managers

• High attention to detail and strong organisational skills

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (required)

Compliance Requirements

• National Police Check

• Working With Children Check

• RRHAN-EC Fundamentals certification

• Willingness to undergo ongoing compliance and safeguarding training as required under the National Quality Framework
