We are offering two permanent full-time positions for skilled Wood Machinists. The successful candidates will be responsible for setting up and operating wood working machines and accessories, shaping wood stock, finishing and polishing wood, and creating crates for paintings, artefacts and other artwork to facilitate the safe movement for museums around the world. The successful candidates will join our production operations team and will be employed at our Sydney, Georges Hall office.

Task & responsibilities
The position will suit candidates who are experienced in working in an environment that requires a high attention to detail and who are skilled in communicating with stakeholders. The key duties include:
- Designing the structures as well as identifying pressure points in each artefact and designing a solution that ensures their protection and safe movement.
- Ensuring wood structures meet design specifications, quality standards, and durability requirements.
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and job sheets to follow project specifications.
- Operating woodworking machinery such as saws, routers, planers, and lathes to achieve precise outcomes.
- Adjusting machine settings for correct cutting, planning, turning, shaping and sanding of wood stock to ensure precision and consistency.
- Repairing and refurbishing wooden products, including sanding, polishing, varnishing, or staining.
- Mounting backing materials, subjects for crating, and fitting and securing crate components.
- Determining the tools and machines required to create crates and the sequence of their operation
- Fitting and fastening frames and structures
Qualification & experience
- 3+ years of experience in a similar role.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and job specifications.
- Proficiency in using a variety of wood machining equipment.
- Sound knowledge of safety standards and practices in a manufacturing environment.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
