Wood Machinist

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Wood Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for woodworking and a keen eye for detail, with a strong background in operating and maintaining woodworking machinery.

The role requires a mature and enthusiastic work attitude and should have a commitment for long-term employment.

Benefits

Salary: $73,150 to $80,000 plus Super depending on experience

Task & responsibilities

As wood machinist, you will play a crucial role in transforming raw materials into finished products, contributing to the success and reputation of our company. 

Your duties will include:

Machine operation including setting up and operation of various woodworking machines including but not limited to lathes, planers, saws, routers and CNC machines

Material preparation including selection and preparation of wood products

Quality control including inspection of finished products for accuracy, quality and craftsmanship

Maintenance and routine repairs on all woodworking machinery to ensure optimal performance and safety

Safety compliance

Inventory management

Work closely with carpenters, designers, wall and floor tilers, glaziers, and other team members to achieve project goals and deadlines

Qualification & experience

Essential Criteria:

Relevant trade qualification (at least Cert III) OR at least 3 years of relevant work experience if without formal qualifications

Minimum of at least 12 months of relevant work experience

Demonstrated skills in handling of tile cutting tools

Able to work unsupervised

Ability to work under pressure

Must have a current driver licence

Preferred but not essential:

Owns a vehicle

Owns tools and equipment

Current driver licence
