Task & responsibilities

The main duties for this Waiter (Supervisor) role are the folllowing:

  • Ensuring the restaurant is operated in compliance with all relevant legislation including employment, work safe and liquor licencing.
  • Patron care and management and conflict resolution.
  • Meeting daily targets as set out by model.
  • Stock control.
  • Creating and adjusting rosters.
  • Supervising the services of food and beverages.
  • Creating daily timesheets.
  • Taking payments, operating point of sales system and balancing cash registers.
  • Use of Nowbookit reservations, taking bookings and answering the phone.
  • Supervise, train and coordinate food and beverage staff.
  • Liaising with head chef for seasonal menu changes and specials.
  • Ensuring customers are served in a professional and timely manner.
  • Educating staff on food, wine and pairing.

Supervise and support waitstaff with:

  • Greeting and seating guests, pouring them water and food and drinks menus.
  • Setting tables and setting them up according to bookings.
  • Serving food and drinks; may recommend drinks to complement food.
  • Taking orders and passing them on to kitchen and bar.
  • Clearing tables and returning dishes and cutlery to kitchen, removing empty bottles and glasses from tables, and refilling and replacing glasses
  • Opening bottles and pouring beverages.
  • Keeping the restaurant clean.
  • Practicing the correct workplace health and safety procedures.

Qualification & experience

The minimum qualification requirement is an AQF or equivalent Certificate II or III in Hospitality, or otherwise you must have at least one year full time (38 hours per week) previous experience in a similar leadership role for a minimum of 1 year.
