Track / Rail Engineer - WA Projects

About the role:
We're looking for a Rail / Track Engineer to join our Cat5 Rail team, supporting projects across Western Australia's major rail networks. Reporting to the Superintendent and Project Manager, this role offers the chance to work across both design and site delivery phases - providing engineering input that keeps projects moving safely, on time, and within budget.
Duties include, but are not limited;
Support the planning, design, and delivery of track construction and maintenance projects
Provide engineering advice to field teams to ensure work meets standards and specifications
Conduct site inspections, verification, and quality assurance activities
Prepare engineering calculations, reports, and technical documentation
Liaise with internal teams, clients, and contractors to coordinate project activities
Monitor project progress and provide input on schedule, cost, and technical performance
Identify and implement process improvements to boost efficiency and safety
Ensure all work complies with relevant rail standards, safety systems, and environmental requirements
Skills & experience
Essential:
Full Australian Working Rights
Bachelor's degree in civil or Rail Engineering (or equivalent qualification)
Minimum 3-5 years' experience in track or rail infrastructure projects
Strong understanding of rail design principles, construction methods, and quality standards
Demonstrated problem-solving and stakeholder communication skills
Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and track geometry
Rail Industry Worker (RIW) Card or ability to obtain
Preferred:
Experience within the Western Australian rail industry (ARTC, PTA, Rio Tinto, or BHP networks)
Familiarity with project management tools and rail design software
Previous exposure to design review, track renewals, and maintenance programs
