Palrav Pty Ltd is seeking three Telecommunications Linesworker to undertake the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications network infrastructure across Emerald, Townsville, Far Northern Queensland, other regional Queensland and surrounding areas. This is a full-time, field-based role requiring hands-on technical work.

The role involves installing, testing, and terminating telecommunications cables, including fibre optic and copper systems, as well as performing fault finding, troubleshooting, and repair of network infrastructure to ensure service continuity and minimise downtime. The successful candidate will install and maintain telecommunications infrastructure across customer premises, network poles, and underground systems, while reading and interpreting technical drawings, plans, and cable layouts to complete work accurately.

The position requires the use of specialised tools and equipment and adherence to ACMA regulations and industry standards. Work will be conducted in outdoor environments, including at heights, in confined spaces, and near electrical infrastructure, with strict compliance with workplace health and safety (WHS) requirements. The role also includes maintaining accurate records of installation, maintenance, and repair activities and liaising with team members to support efficient field operations.

This role is strictly operational and does not involve managerial, supervisory, or network design responsibilities. Applicants must have relevant qualifications or equivalent experience, practical technical skills, and a valid driver’s licence.

Task & responsibilities

  • Install, test, and terminate telecommunications cables, including fibre optic and copper systems
  • Perform fault finding, troubleshooting, and repair of telecommunications network infrastructure
  • Maintain and restore network services to ensure continuity and minimise downtime
  • Install and maintain telecommunications infrastructure across customer premises, poles, and underground systems
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, plans, and cable layouts
  • Use specialised tools and equipment for installation, testing, and maintenance tasks
  • Carry out cabling work in accordance with ACMA regulations and industry standards
  • Work at heights, in confined spaces, and near electrical infrastructure as required
  • Follow workplace health and safety (WHS) policies and procedures at all times
  • Maintain accurate records of installation, maintenance, and repair activities
  • Liaise with team members and relevant personnel to support efficient field operations

Qualification & experience

  • Relevant qualification in telecommunications, electronics, or a related field (AQF Certificate III/IV or equivalent)
  • Minimum One - two year of relevant work experience in telecommunications installation, maintenance, or repair
  • Demonstrated experience working with fibre optic and copper cabling systems
  • Ability to perform fault finding, troubleshooting, and repair of telecommunications networks
  • Experience working on customer premises, network infrastructure, and field-based environments
  • Knowledge of FTTP, FTTN, FTTC, or similar telecommunications systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, plans, and specifications
  • Familiarity with ACMA regulations and industry standards for cabling work
  • Experience using specialised tools and equipment for telecommunications installation and testing
  • Understanding of workplace health and safety (WHS) requirements, including working at heights and near electrical infrastructure
  • Valid driver’s licence (mandatory)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
