TELECOMMUNICATION NETWORK ENGINEER

The Telecommunications Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, optimizing, and maintaining telecommunications networks to support voice, data, and video communications. This role involves analysing network requirements, developing network architectures, ensuring reliable connectivity, and providing technical support for network infrastructure.

Task & responsibilities

• Install, set up, and manage network hardware, software, and associated components to maintain smooth operations
• Prepare detailed network documentation, including technical drawings, specifications, and process guidelines
• Evaluate traffic flow and capacity demands to plan enhancements and future growth of the network infrastructure
• Work closely with suppliers and external service providers to source, deploy, and support network solutions
• Design and build telecommunications infrastructure such as LAN, WAN, wireless networks, and VoIP platforms
• Review and mitigate risks by implementing security protocols that safeguard network assets and data
• Oversee network performance, identifying and resolving issues proactively to maintain high levels of availability and security
• Offer technical assistance and advice to internal departments and end-users to support effective use of systems
• Develop network integration plans and configurations that align with operational objectives and business needs
• Ensure all network activities comply with relevant policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards

Qualification & experience

• Relevant qualifications and At least 1 year of experience in designing and maintaining telecommunications networks.
• Relevant industry certifications
• Strong knowledge of network protocols
• Ability to interpret technical requirements and translate them into practical solutions.
