RRR Lawyers is seeking an experienced and motivated Solicitor with a strong background in family law to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a capable legal practitioner to work across a varied and rewarding caseload with a primary focus on family law matters alongside direct client contact and genuine responsibility from day one, in a supportive and collaborative environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with the firm’s principals and senior practitioners, contributing across one or more of the firm’s core practice areas. Remuneration will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience, skills, and the complexity of matters they are engaged to handle.

Task & responsibilities

  • Advise and represent clients across a range of family law matters, including parenting arrangements, property settlements, divorce, spousal maintenance, de facto relationship disputes, and intervention orders
  • Manage family law files from initial client consultation through to resolution, whether by negotiation, mediation, consent orders, or contested hearing
  • Draft, review, and settle family law documents including initiating applications, affidavits, financial statements, consent orders, and binding financial agreements
  • Appear and represent clients in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, including at procedural hearings, interim hearings, and final trials as required
  • Provide clear, accurate, and practical legal advice to clients across additional practice areas, which may include property and conveyancing, wills and estates, and general litigation
  • Conduct legal research and provide well-reasoned advice on complex or novel legal issues
  • Maintain accurate and compliant file management, billing, and time recording in accordance with firm procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with clients, counsel, courts, and other legal practitioners
  • Engage sensitively and respectfully with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, particularly those from South Asian communities
  • Supervise and support the work of paralegals and legal support staff as applicable
  • Comply at all times with the professional and ethical obligations prescribed by the Legal Profession Uniform Law and applicable rules of professional conduct

Qualification & experience

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD), or equivalent recognised legal qualification
  • Current admission to practice as a Solicitor in Australia, with a valid Practising Certificate (or eligibility to obtain one)
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ post-admission experience (PAE) in legal practice, with demonstrated experience in family law matters
  • Strong knowledge of the Family Law, Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia procedures, and relevant legislative frameworks
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a varied caseload independently and to a high professional standard
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal matters to clients clearly and accessibly
  • Cultural sensitivity and the ability to engage effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds, including South Asian communities
  • Experience working with clients from Indian or Pakistani backgrounds is highly regarded
  • Proficiency in Gujarati and/or Hindi is highly desirable and will be considered a significant advantage
  • High level of personal integrity, professional judgement, and client service orientation
  • Well-developed time management and organisational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines across a varied portfolio of matters
