We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join our team on a 6-month contract based in Sydney CBD. This role is suited to a full-stack developer who enjoys building scalable, modern applications and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

About the role:

As a Software Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality applications across web and cloud platforms. You will work across the full development lifecycle, contributing to architecture decisions, building robust APIs, and delivering responsive user experiences using modern frameworks and Azure cloud technologies.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain full-stack web applications with a focus on performance and usability
• Design and implement scalable architectures using microservices and event-driven patterns
• Build and integrate RESTful APIs and backend services
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile delivery environment
• Develop responsive, user-centric front-end applications
• Ensure adherence to security, governance, and development best practices
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and platforms

Required experience and skills

Technical experience:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience delivering full-stack web applications, including responsive design
• Proven experience developing solutions within Microsoft Azure
• Experience in mobile app development using React Native is highly regarded
• Strong understanding of modern system architecture, including microservices and event-driven design
• Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and web services
• Solid understanding of security principles across applications and data
• Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies
• Relevant tertiary qualification in technology, business, or a related discipline

Advanced expertise in:

• C#, ASP.NET, and .NET 6+
• Entity Framework (code-first) with SQL Server
• HTML5, CSS3, and pre-processors such as LESS or similar
• Building Single Page Applications using React.js and related libraries
• Source control using Git, ideally within Azure DevOps

Desirable

• Microsoft Power Platform experience
• Development within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, particularly SharePoint Online
• Azure cloud expertise

Strong experience with:

• Azure App Services
• Azure Functions
• Azure API Management
• Azure Cache for Redis
• Azure Service Bus
• Azure Storage solutions
• Authentication and authorisation using OAuth with Entra ID
• Azure SQL Database and Azure Cosmos DB
