🚀 Hiring: Senior AWS Cloud Engineer – Sydney CBD / Hybrid / NFP

I’m currently looking for a pro‑active Senior AWS Cloud Engineer to join a long‑standing Australian Not‑For‑Profit making a real impact in the community. This is a permanent role, based in the Sydney CBD with hybrid working (Minimum 3 days in the office - not negotiable.)

This is not a “wait for instructions” kind of role. We’re after someone who brings fresh ideas, curiosity, and a strong solution‑focused mindset—someone who wants a voice, enjoys shaping outcomes, and thrives in a thought-driven environment.

You’ll play a key part in the organisation’s cloud journey, helping design and evolve modern AWS platforms, identifying opportunities for re‑architecture, and ensuring solutions align with business needs. There’s also some Azure in the mix, with the potential scope for more over time.

🌐 What you’ll be doing

• Continuously improving AWS platforms aligned to the AWS Well‑Architected Framework.

• Producing clear technical documentation.

• Handling new requests and incidents.

• Spotting and delivering re‑architecture opportunities.

• Helping shape how the organisation moves to—and matures in—the cloud.

🛠️ Key Skills & Experience

These are the absolute non-negotiables – if you can’t demonstrate a strong background in these areas then please don’t expect to be considered on this occasion:

• Proven experience with AWS Compute services (EC2, etc.) and serverless architectures.

• Deep technical expertise in designing and governing complex environments across both AWS and Azure. This specifically includes managing high-level structures like Landing Zones and AWS Organizations, alongside advanced networking configurations such as Transit Gateway and Virtual WAN.

• Deep understanding of Microsoft Entra ID, AWS IAM, and comprehensive AWS Organization management.

• Highly proficient in writing, deploying, and maintaining IaC using OpenTofu/Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.

• Extensive hands-on experience with GitHub and building automated CI/CD workflows via GitHub Actions.

• Heavy MS Infrastructure environment so someone with a strong MS/Windows Systems background will be ideal (a bit of a Linux base will be helpful too.)

• You must have exceptional levels of spoken and written business English.

• Strong stakeholder management skills (up to and including Exec levels.)
