The Retail Store Manager is responsible for planning, organising, directing, controlling and coordinating the full operations of an assigned Sunlite Mitre 10 store. This senior management role requires leadership of the store team, delivery of commercial results, inventory and merchandise oversight, outstanding customer service, and compliance with workplace standards and business policies.

Duties:

• Plan, organise and manage the day-to-day operations of the retail store across all departments.
• Direct and coordinate staff activities to ensure efficient service delivery and achievement of sales targets.
• Monitor sales performance and implement strategies to maximise revenue and profitability.
• Manage inventory levels, including ordering, stock control, stocktakes and loss prevention.
• Oversee visual merchandising, product displays and pricing in line with franchise standards.
• Handle escalated customer enquiries and complaints to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
• Recruit, train, supervise and performance-manage store employees.
• Prepare staff rosters and manage staffing levels according to operational and trading needs.
• Control cash handling, point-of-sale operations, banking and end-of-day reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety, consumer law and company policies.

Qualification & experience

• Diploma or higher in Business, Retail Management, Commerce, or a related field; OR at least three (3) years of relevant experience in a senior retail management role.
• Minimum one (1) year of full-time post-qualification experience managing a retail store or department, including supervising staff and overseeing daily operations.
• Proven experience in sales performance management, achieving targets, and implementing business improvement strategies.
• Demonstrated experience in inventory management, stock control, supplier liaison, and merchandising.
• Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
• Excellent customer service, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Knowledge of workplace health and safety obligations and compliance with consumer law.
• Experience in financial management, including budgeting, cash handling, and point-of-sale operations.
