The Corner Chicken Shop is seeking a motivated and experienced Retail Manager to oversee the daily operations of our busy poultry retail business. The successful candidate will be responsible for product selection, stock control, pricing, budgeting, staff supervision, marketing activities, and ensuring high operational standards.

Task & responsibilities

• Analyzing customer demand and sales trends to determine the optimal product mix, manage stock levels, and establish service standards that enhance customer satisfaction and maximize revenue
• Developing, implementing, and reviewing purchasing strategies and marketing initiatives, including supplier negotiations and pricing structures, to ensure competitive positioning and profitability
• Planning and coordinating promotional activities and advertising campaigns across in-store and digital platforms to increase brand awareness, attract new customers, and drive repeat business
• Providing direct customer service by selling products, responding to enquiries, resolving complaints, and offering informed advice on product features, usage, and care to ensure a high-quality customer experience
• Maintaining accurate records of inventory, sales, and financial transactions, conducting regular stocktakes, monitoring wastage, and ensuring all documentation aligns with business and accounting requirements
• Preparing budgets, analyzing financial performance reports, managing operating expenses, and implementing cost-control measures to support the establishment’s financial objectives
• Managing staff recruitment, onboarding, training, rostering, and supervision to ensure adequate staffing levels, strong team performance, and continuous professional development
• Ensuring full compliance with occupational health and safety requirements by implementing safe work practices, conducting workplace risk assessments, providing staff training on safety procedures, and maintaining a clean and hazard-free work environment

Qualification & experience

• Minimum 1 year experience in retail management or supervisory role
• Strong understanding of retail operations, inventory control, and merchandising
• Excellent leadership, communication, and customer service skills
• Ability to manage a fast-paced environment and lead staff effectively
• Solid financial and budgeting skills
• Understanding of OHS/WHS requirements in a retail food environment
