About the role

As a Reporting Analyst within QTAC’s Data & Analytics team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality reporting, business intelligence and data insights that support critical business operations and decision-making. Working across a modern Microsoft data environment, you will own QTAC’s day-to-day reporting function, maintain and enhance Power BI dashboards, respond to data requests, and support key statutory reporting obligations including TCSI, Transparency and Enrolment data collections.

You’ll have the opportunity to further develop your expertise in Power BI, data modelling and analytics while contributing to the ongoing evolution of QTAC’s data and reporting capabilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage QTAC’s day-to-day reporting operations, ensuring reporting requests are delivered accurately and within agreed service levels.

  • Develop, maintain and enhance Power BI reports, dashboards and visualisations that support business decision-making.

  • Respond to ad hoc data requests from internal stakeholders and institution partners, providing timely and meaningful insights.

  • Gather, analyse and document business reporting requirements, translating them into effective reporting and analytics solutions.

  • Support key statutory reporting obligations, including TCSI, Transparency, Enrolment and other required data collections.

  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity and quality of reporting outputs through data validation, quality assurance and continuous improvement activities.

  • Administer and support QTAC’s Power BI environment, including report publishing, workspace management and user support.

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to understand business needs and identify data-led opportunities.

  • Create technical documentation, data dictionaries and business glossaries to support reporting and analytics capabilities.

  • Develop and deliver training and guidance materials to promote self-service reporting and analytics across the organisation.

  • Collaborate with the broader Data & Analytics team to support data modelling, reporting enhancements and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Contribute to the ongoing evolution of QTAC’s reporting and analytics capability through innovation, problem-solving and adoption of new technologies.

Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in reporting, business intelligence, data analysis or a similar analytics-focused role.

  • Strong experience developing and maintaining Power BI reports, dashboards and data visualisations.

  • Highly developed SQL querying and data analysis skills, with the ability to interpret and present complex information clearly.

  • Experience translating business requirements into meaningful reporting and analytics solutions.

  • Knowledge of data modelling concepts, including Power BI semantic models, SSAS Tabular models or similar technologies.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with large and complex datasets.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare documentation, deliver training and explain technical concepts to end users.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience with DAX, Power Query (M), Python or other data and analytics technologies will be highly regarded.

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics or a related discipline are desirable.

  • Previous experience within the tertiary education sector or a similar industry will be highly regarded.
