An exciting opportunity have come up for an experienced, caring, and dedicated Registered Nurse (Aged Care) for immediate start. The position requires at least 12 months of relevant experience preferably in an aged care or disability setting. The role requires a mature and enthusiastic work attitude and should have a commitment for long-term employment.
The Registered Nurse (Aged Care) will be responsible for delivering high-quality, person-centred nursing care to elderly residents within a residential aged care facility. The role involves clinical assessment, care planning, supervision of care staff, medication management, and ensuring compliance with relevant Australian healthcare standards, including the Aged Care Quality Standards.
The position requires strong clinical judgement, leadership capability, and a commitment to enhancing the physical, emotional, and social wellbeing of residents.
Salary: $76,515 to $100,000 plus Super depending on experience
Clinical Care Delivery
• Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments of residents, including physical, psychological, and social needs.
• Develop, implement, and regularly review individualised care plans in consultation with residents, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Administer medications safely and in accordance with prescribed guidelines and facility policies.
• Monitor and evaluate residents’ responses to treatment and care interventions.
• Provide wound care management, palliative care, and chronic disease management.
Resident Health & Wellbeing
• Promote a person-centred approach to care that respects residents’ dignity, preferences, and cultural backgrounds.
• Identify and respond to changes in residents’ health conditions promptly.
• Support residents’ mobility, nutrition, hydration, and emotional wellbeing.
Supervision & Leadership
• Supervise and support Enrolled Nurses (ENs), Assistants in Nursing (AINs), and care staff.
• Provide clinical guidance, mentoring, and training to junior staff.
• Delegate tasks appropriately and ensure care delivery aligns with professional standards.
Compliance & Documentation
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation, including progress notes and care records.
• Ensure compliance with Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission standards and relevant NSW health regulations.
• Participate in audits, accreditation processes, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Communication & Collaboration
• Liaise effectively with residents, families, general practitioners, allied health professionals, and external service providers.
• Participate in case conferences and multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Communicate clinical information clearly and professionally.
Emergency & Risk Management
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide first-line clinical intervention.
• Identify risks and implement strategies to minimise incidents (e.g. falls, infections).
• Ensure infection control practices are strictly followed.
Qualifications
• Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent qualification.
• Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA)
• Minimum of 12 months of post-registration experience, preferably in aged care or geriatric nursing.
• Demonstrated experience in medication administration, care planning, and clinical assessments.
