TAB Resources Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Process Engineer on behalf of our client, Mining3, to support the CATCH4 Program. This role is based in Illawarra, NSW, supporting local mine site pilot plant implementation & operation, delivering an innovative methane abatement project for the mining sector.

This role will support commissioning, optimisation and ongoing plant performance within a pilot-scale gas processing environment. You will work closely with operations, trades and technical teams to ensure safe, efficient and reliable plant operation.

About Mining3

Mining3 is a world-leading mining research and technology organisation working directly with global mining companies to develop and deliver transformational technologies that improve productivity, sustainability, and safety.

For more than 30 years, Mining3 has acted as a trusted bridge between industry needs and research capability, accelerating innovation from applied R&D through to commercial deployment. Our multidisciplinary team collaborates with mining companies, researchers, and service providers globally to solve real, industry-identified challenges and deliver measurable outcomes across the mining value chain.

About CATCH4

CATCH4 (Catalytic Oxidation of Methane) is a multi-phase R&D program led by Mining3 and supported by Low Emission Technology Australia (LETA).

The program is developing and commercialising catalytic technology to reduce ventilation air methane (VAM) emissions from underground coal mines - one of the mining sector's most challenging greenhouse gas sources. Methane has a global warming potential approximately 28 times greater than Carbon Dioxide, and many mines operate at concentrations too low for conventional abatement systems.

Following successful completion of Phase 1, which established standardised testing of catalytic materials under VAM conditions, Phase 2 will pilot the technology at an Australian coal mine to validate scalability, durability and commercial readiness. Future phases will focus on large-scale deployment and industry integration.

About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Process Engineer to join our team in Wollongong on a 18-month fixed-term basis, with the possibility of extension or conversion to a full-time role. In this position, you will work closely with project engineers (mechanical and electrical) to support and enhance implementation processes. You will play a key role in developing Excel-based tools for calculations and scenario analysis, as well as utilising advanced process simulation software to optimise system performance. Initially, the engineer reports to the Program Director. The role will require you to travel to Western Australia and Queensland.

Key Responsibilities

About You

  • 5+ years' experience in gas processing, chemical, industrial or pilot plant environments.

  • Skilled in process simulation.

  • Proven skills in safety analysis, troubleshooting, optimisation and commissioning of plant.

  • Experience working from concept to execution phases of projects.

  • Strong understanding of process safety and risk management principles.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Clear communication skills, capable of discussing and explaining complicated data in concise language for stakeholder engagement.

  • Current Driver's Licence.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Process or Mechanical Engineering.
