The Department of Housing and Works delivers and maintains essential social housing and critical infrastructure across Western Australia—including schools, hospitals and police facilities.

We manage tenancy services, support housing provision in remote Aboriginal communities, and oversee government employee accommodation.

Through office accommodation solutions, State Fleet management, procurement, planning and asset policy, we empower other government agencies to deliver their best.

About The Role:

This position contributes to the coordination and implementation of strategic financial frameworks, audits, and reform initiatives to promote best practice in financial management, accounting operations, and risk mitigation. The role develops and maintains collaborative relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to support a coordinated approach to the implementation and evaluation of financial frameworks. It participates in the development and assessment of strategies to address complex financial management issues and contributes to the review and enhancement of financial policies and procedures. The position also supports the Financial Services teams to deliver outcomes aligned with corporate objectives and strategic priorities.

About You:

You are a motivated and analytical professional who enjoys working on complex financial, policy and project matters and turning analysis into practical, high‑quality outcomes. With experience supporting organisation‑wide projects and contributing to policy development, you are able to deliver initiatives that align with corporate objectives and reform priorities.

You thrive in collaborative, fast‑paced environments and build effective working relationships with ease. Your customer‑focused approach and ability to engage with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders supports the successful implementation and evaluation of financial frameworks and reform activities.

With strong organisational, communication and research skills, you can confidently manage competing priorities, prepare clear and well‑reasoned documentation, and contribute to resolving complex financial and governance issues. Most importantly, you are motivated by meaningful work that supports strong financial management, risk mitigation and better outcomes for the Western Australian community and public sector.

The position operates in Personal Leadership context. This means that you are required to demonstrate personal accountability for delivering excellence and support your team and agency in delivering strategic goals. You will be expected to build and nurture relationships and be willing to seek feedback and learn.
