NoosaCare is seeking compassionate and dedicated Personal Carers to join our clinical team and provide high-quality care to our residents. This role offers the opportunity to work in a supportive environment where residents’ dignity, wellbeing, and independence are the top priority.

The Personal Carer delivers safe, effective and person-centred care that supports each resident’s rights, dignity, independence, and quality of life in accordance with the Aged Care Act 2024 and the Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards.

Working under the direction of Registered Nurses (RNs) and Enrolled Nurses (ENs), the Personal Carer assists residents with activities of daily living, promotes wellbeing, and contributes to culturally safe, trauma-informed and respectful care practices.

The role involves identifying and escalating risks, accurately documenting care, reporting changes in residents’ conditions, and ensuring all care aligns with individual care plans, organisational policies, and regulatory requirements.

Position accountabilities:

  • Provides general assistance, emotional support, care and companionship for aged or disabled people.
  • Accompanying aged and disabled persons during daily activities
  • Assisting clients with their mobility
  • Preparing food for clients
  • Assisting in personal hygiene and dressing
  • Providing companionship, friendship and emotional support

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver Person-Centred Care

  • Care is delivered in accordance with individualised care plans. 
  • Residents report feeling respected, safe and supported. 
  • Care practices reflect dignity, choice and independence.

Support Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)

  • Assistance with personal care (hygiene, grooming, mobility, nutrition, toileting) is provided safely and in line with assessed needs. 
  • Minimal preventable incidents linked to care delivery

Observation and Escalation

  • Changes in residents’ physical, emotional or behavioural condition are promptly reported to the RN/EN. 
  • Documentation reflects timely and accurate escalation.

Maintain Accurate Documentation

  • Care notes are completed contemporaneously, objectively and in line with organisational and legislative requirements. 
  • Audits demonstrate high documentation compliance.

Promote Safety and Risk Management

  • Hazards, incidents and near misses are reported promptly. 
  • Safe manual handling and infection prevention practices are consistently demonstrated.

Support Residents’ Rights and Choice

  • Residents are supported to make informed decisions about daily routines where possible. 
  • No substantiated breaches of dignity, privacy or respectful care standards.

Contribute to Team-Based Care

  • Positive collaboration with nursing, lifestyle, hospitality and allied health teams. 
  • Handover participation is consistent and constructive.

Maintain Professional Competence

  • Mandatory training is completed within required timeframes. 
  • Demonstrates understanding of scope of role and works under appropriate delegation.

Uphold Organisational Values

  • Professional behaviour is consistently demonstrated.  
  • Feedback from supervisors reflects reliability, respectful communication and ethical conduct.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Essential

  • Certificate III in Individual Support (or equivalent)
  • Experience providing personal care and assistance with activities of daily living including mobility, hygiene, dressing, toileting and nutrition support
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team and following direction from nursing staff
  • Ability to observe and report changes in a resident’s condition
  • Experience maintaining accurate documentation and care records
  • Demonstrated commitment to person-centred care and the dignity of older people
  • Experience working safely with manual handling, infection control and risk management

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a residential aged care environment
  • Experience supporting residents with dementia or cognitive impairment
  • Experience using electronic care documentation systems
  • Ability to build positive relationships with residents and families
  • Experience supporting palliative or end-of-life care under nursing direction
  • Ability to work effectively in culturally diverse environments
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience contributing to quality improvement or safety initiatives
