Painter/Site Supervisor

The Painter/Site Supervisor position will work closely with different contractors and Director to produce accurate and timely results by improving painting processes of the organization. This is a newly created role and reports to the Director. The position demands high attention to detail, excellent organisational skills and the ability to meet delivery requirements and deadlines. You will also be involved in assisting the site manager, project manager, structural engineer, and sub-contractors to improve the productivity and profitability of the business from a paint removal, surface restoration, interiors & exteriors, maintenance and spray painting point of view.

Task & responsibilities

Painter/Site Supervisor with 2+ years of experience working on commercial and retail projects to join our team. In your role as Site Supervisor/Painter, your duties will include, but not be limited to, the following;

• Everyday Management of painting sites and programme, to effectively and efficiently complete projects, contracts, decorating and maintenance work.
• Preparing surfaces by removing old paint, filling holes, sanding, and cleaning.
• Applying protective and decorative paint, varnish, stain, enamel, and other finishes.
• Mixing and matching paints, stains, and varnishes to required colour and texture.
• Applying paints and coatings using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.
• Covering surfaces with sealant or primer before painting.
• Protecting areas not to be painted by using coverings, masking tape, or sheeting.
• Erecting and dismantling scaffolding and ladders as required.
• Reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine requirements.
• Maintaining tools, brushes, rollers, and spray equipment in good condition.
• Following workplace health and safety procedures, including safe handling of paints, thinners, and chemicals
• Manage your work week between site supervision and painting work.
• Be able to works in accordance with the construction documentation, Australian Standards, National Codes, the construction programme.
• Working closely with project managers and clients to ensure the fine details throughout the final stages and delivery with beyond and above expectation.
• Managing high end projects/painting contracts from start to finish.
• Maximise site production and ensuring schedules are adhered to by managing sub-contractor’s trade availability

Qualification & experience

• Trade Qualification in Painting
• Construction White Card
• Work Safely at Heights Rii (Desirable but not essential)
• Elevated Work Platform Rii (Desirable but not essential)
• Demonstrated experience in a similar environment
• Able to work autonomously and as part of a team to plan and execute construction activities
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Physically fit and be able to pass a medical and drug & alcohol screening
• Good communication skills
