The Painter will be responsible for the application of paints, coatings and other finishes protecting and decorating a range of materials. This position requires self-discipline, motivation and attention to detail.

Task & responsibilities

TASKS

-Masking of areas required for painting.

-Mixing two-part paints.

-Calculate and add thinners as required.

-Calculate layer thicknesses and drying times.

-Select paints/coatings based on features and requirements.

-Apply paints and coatings using brushes, rollers, and conventional or airless spray guns.

-Measure paint thickness using gauges.

-Carry out touch ups and repairs where required.

-Sanding surfaces and surface preparation.

-Erect and use ladders and platforms.

-Clean and maintain equipment.

-Metal Spraying applications.

-Able to apply zinc phosphates, inorganic zinc, epoxies, high build epoxies, polysiloxanes, polyurethanes, fluoropolymertopcoats and intumescent coatings to various surfaces using brushes, sprays and rollers

-Work from heights and in confined spaces

-Must be able to read plans and instructions

-Other duties, which may arise from time to time

RESPONSIBILITIES

-Take measures to avoid contamination of other paints and materials, including segregating areas or blocking with barriers.

-Must have a focus on quality and accuracy

-Report non-conformances and assist in resolution

-Assist with in process inspection as needed

-Report any need for repairs and maintenance of workshop equipment.

-Comply with instructions from supervision

-Maintain proper time keeping practices

-Ensure all tools are used are safe and are used in a safe manner.

Qualification & experience

- Must have 'Working at Heights' and 'Confined spaces'.

- Have or be able to obtain Elevating work platform (Boom, Scissor and Vertical lift(over 11m ) licences and experience.

- Minimum Cert III Painting pending experience

-Good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with peers and reading skills is essential.

-The applicant must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude.

-The ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard of best work practices is a requirement.

Cert III or Cert IV plus experience.
