Task & responsibilities

• Preparing surfaces by cleaning, sanding, patching and removing old paint where required

• Applying paints, varnishes, stains and protective coatings using brushes, rollers and spray equipment

• Mixing and matching paints to achieve required colours and finishes

• Erecting ladders and scaffolding and working safely at heights when required

• Measuring areas and calculating material requirements

• Protecting surrounding surfaces and ensuring clean and tidy work areas

• Repairing cracks, holes and damaged surfaces prior to painting

• Reading and interpreting work orders and project specifications

• Maintaining painting tools, equipment and materials in good condition

• Ensuring all work complies with workplace health and safety requirements

• Liaising with supervisors, clients and other trades to ensure projects are completed efficiently

Qualification & experience

Certificate III in Painting and Decorating or a closely related qualification

At least 12 months of relevant full time work experience as a Painter

Strong knowledge of painting techniques, surface preparation and finishing methods

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

Ability to meet project deadlines and maintain high standards of safety
