The Network Administrator is responsible for supporting the design, implementation, administration and maintenance of client and internal network environments for K2Byte Business. The role focuses on ensuring reliable, secure and efficient operation of network infrastructure, servers, connected systems and end-user services, while providing technical support, troubleshooting, documentation and ongoing operational improvement in line with business and customer requirements.

Task & responsibilities

  • Install, configure, test, maintain and administer network hardware, software, servers, workstations and related infrastructure for business and client environments.
  • Monitor network traffic, availability, capacity and performance to ensure continued integrity, reliability and optimal operation of systems and services.
  • Investigate, diagnose and resolve network faults, outages and performance issues, and document resolutions, enhancements and maintenance activities.
  • Support network security administration, including user account management, password controls, access permissions, backup processes and maintenance of security-related documentation.
  • Research, analyse and recommend improvements to network operations, infrastructure performance, communications systems and related technologies.
  • Prepare and maintain procedures, inventory records, technical documentation and maintenance instructions for network assets and system changes.
  • Provide specialist technical support to users and clients, including help desk assistance, troubleshooting and guidance on the effective use of systems and network services.
  • Assist with implementation of new or upgraded networks, cloud-connected environments, remote access solutions and business continuity measures as required.
  • Work collaboratively with management, vendors and customers to ensure network solutions align with operational needs, service expectations and business objectives.

Qualification & experience

  • A Bachelor degree or higher qualification in information technology, computer science, networking, or a related field
  • At least 1-2 years of relevant experience 
  • Demonstrated experience in administration and support of network infrastructure, servers, operating systems and end-user computing environments.
  • Knowledge of network protocols, routing, switching, wireless networking, firewalls, VPNs, access control and security practices.
  • Ability to diagnose technical issues, perform root cause analysis and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Strong documentation, communication and customer service skills, with the ability to support both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, respond to incidents and contribute to continuous improvement of IT and network operations.
