National Work Health & Safety Manager

About the Opportunity

We are currently partnering with a well-established and growing organisation to appoint a National Work Health & Safety Manager. This is a pivotal role responsible for leading and embedding a safety-first culture across the business, ensuring compliance, driving best practice, and influencing leadership at all levels.
This position will suit a hands-on WHS specialist who thrives in operational environments and is passionate about building robust safety frameworks that genuinely make a difference.

About the Role

Reporting to the National Human Resources Manager, you will take ownership of the organisation’s WHS function, including:

  • Developing and delivering strategic WHS plans aligned to business objectives
  • Implementing and continuously improving WHS systems, processes, and procedures
  • Leading incident investigations, risk assessments, and corrective actions
  • Managing dangerous goods and hazardous chemical compliance across the organisation
  • Driving contractor management, PPE compliance, and site safety standards
  • Partnering with leadership teams to influence and embed a proactive safety culture
  • Ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and responding to WorkSafe directives
  • Leading training, inductions, and ongoing safety education programs
  • Reporting on WHS performance metrics and identifying improvement opportunities
Critical Experience & Knowledge (Key Focus) To be successful in this role, you will bring:
✔ Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a specialist WHS role, ideally leading a safety function across a business or division. Ideally suited to someone stepping upt to a National role.
✔ Expertise in dangerous goods and hazardous chemical management
✔ Demonstrated experience working within manufacturing, industrial or similar environments
✔ Proven capability managing WorkSafe visits, audits, and compliance outcomes
✔ Experience working within unionised environments (highly regarded)
✔ Comprehensive understanding of WHS legislation, regulations, and codes of practice
✔ Experience coordinating audits and compliance against legislative and internal standards
✔ Exposure to ISO environments (ISO 9001 or similar) will be highly regarded
✔ Knowledge of systems such as Smartsheets (advantageous)
✔ Relevant qualifications in First Aid and Return to Work (RTW) (preferred)
