Harvest Moon (Forth Farm Produce Pty Ltd) is one of Australia’s largest fresh vegetable suppliers. We supply 100% Australian fresh vegetables to major Australian food retailers and to our export markets. We grow and market a diverse range of vegetables including Artichokes, Beans, Beetroot, Broccoli, Brown and Red Onions, Bukchoy, Cabbage, Carrots, Cauliflower, Celery, Choy Sum, Fennel, Iceberg Lettuce, Pak Choy, Potatoes, Pumpkins, Spinach, Spring Onions, Swedes and Wombok. 

Harvest Moon grows roughly 70,000 tons of carrots, onions, broccoli, cauliflower, spinach, beans, swede, and beetroot annually in and around the township of Forth in northern Tasmania and just outside Narrandera in New South Wales. We operate two other sites on mainland Australia, in Werribee South (Victoria) and Gatton (Queensland). Our mainland growing, production and logistics capabilities give Harvest Moon nationwide exposure through markets and retail networks. 

We are looking for experienced Mobile Plant Operators to join our team in Forth, Tasmania on a permanent, full time basis. As a Mobile Plant Operator, you will be part of the Farm business and you will be responsible for operating specialised farming plant for the preparation, seeding, spraying, fertilising, and mechanical harvesting and transplanting of Harvest Moon's crops. Your day-to-day tasks and duties include:

• Collaborate effectively with other team members such as our Farm Operations Manager, Field Officers, and Supervisors to ensure the smooth operation of all activities undertaken on farms in a timely manner.
• The precision operation of Harvest Moon’s specialised mobile plant to undertake soil preparation (ripping, mulching, discing, power harrowing & strip tilling), planting of crops (precision seeding and transplanting), fertilising and spraying of crops, and the mechanical harvesting of produce including carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, beetroot, onions, beans, spinach, and cereals. 
• Calibrate and monitor plant performance including adjusting distribution and collection rate. 
• Undertake daily recordkeeping for all farming activities & working hours in accordance with Harvest Moon’s business systems and software in an accurate and timely manner.
• Ensure all farm machinery and equipment is cleaned, properly maintained, and serviced on time. 
• Promptly report any issues or breakages to machinery and equipment. 

Skills and Experience: 

• Relevant Certificate II or III or at least one year relevant industry experience; 
• Ability to operate specialised mobile plant in rough terrain; 
• Knowledge calibration and maintenance of spray equipment;
• Ability to safely handle of chemicals;  
• Basic mechanical understanding; 
• Safety conscious; 
• Demonstrated ability to work without supervision; 
• Ability to work as a part of a team;
• Strong verbal and written communication skills;
• Ability to handle conflict and dispute resolution.
