Our client in Bibra Lake requires the services of an experienced Mining Engineer.

Position Overview:

The Mining Engineer will be responsible for supporting Westfill’s underground mining operations by planning, directing, and managing the engineering aspects of mineral extraction. This role plays a pivotal part in designing underground mine layouts, contributing to mine development activities, and ensuring that all engineering work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with the company's operational standards. You will work closely with site personnel and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality underground mining solutions for our clients.

Task & responsibilities

• Conduct preliminary site surveys and collaborate with geologists, geophysicists, and other specialists to assess mineral deposits and determine underground mining feasibility.
• Develop detailed underground mine plans, including tunnel, shaft, and chamber layouts, using appropriate mining methods and engineering models.
• Determine and recommend the most suitable underground ore extraction methods based on geotechnical and geological assessments.
• Prepare cost estimates, production schedules, and project budgets, and monitor progress, output, and cost performance.
• Identify and evaluate safety, environmental, technical, and financial risks; implement hazard mitigation strategies aligned with Westfill’s safety-first culture.
• Plan and coordinate the use of labour, equipment, and resources to support efficient underground mining operations in compliance with regulatory and client standards.
• Provide technical engineering advice and contribute to ongoing process improvements to optimise underground mining methods and outcomes.

Qualification & experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related discipline 
• Proven experience in underground mine planning, design, and operations within the mining sector.
• Strong understanding of geology, geotechnical principles, and underground mining safety protocols.
• Demonstrated capability in feasibility studies, scheduling, cost estimation, and project management.
• Ability to analyse and manage operational risks across safety, environmental, technical, and financial domains.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
• Knowledge of mining regulations, environmental compliance requirements, and industry best practices
