About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Legal Assistant to join our Superannuation & Insurance Litigation team. This role is based in our Melbourne office and offers the flexibility to work both from home and in the office, providing a balanced and dynamic working environment.

As a vital member of our Superannuation & Insurance team, you will be the first point of contact for both new and existing clients. We understand that many of our clients are navigating challenging circumstances, and our team is committed to making a positive impact on their lives during these difficult times.

As a Legal Assistant in our Superannuation and Insurance team, you will:

• Provide accurate updates and information to clients in a timely manner, ensuring expectations are managed effectively.
• Oversee the administration of client files from opening to closure, maintaining a high standard of organisation.
• Support lawyers and clients to prepare for trials and mediations, including updates on the progress of your work.
• Draft and produce briefs to barristers and client correspondence with professionalism and attention to detail.
• Handle and action all incoming correspondence promptly and efficiently.
• Time-record the chargeable work on files to progress matters and meet your daily time targets.
• Prepare and process client invoices with accuracy and adherence to guidelines.
• Perform a range of general administrative tasks as required to support the team.

Key Selection Criteria

To excel in this role, you will demonstrate:

• Experience in a legal support role is highly regarded. We welcome candidates with transferable administrative skills and a strong interest in the legal sector.
• Experience with Litigation and Trial preparation preferred.
• Exceptional organisational and time management skills.
• The ability to multi-task, prioritise effectively, and perform under pressure.
• A proactive and enthusiastic approach, with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
• Confidence and resilience in fast-paced environments, with the tenacity to meet deadlines.
• A keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering work of the highest standard.
• Excellent and tactful communication skills, including verbal, written, and interpersonal abilities.
• Proven capacity to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
• Sound judgement in escalating issues or information to a supervisor when necessary.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
• Adaptability to Litigation systems and processes, including Time Recording.
• Agility and openness to change including the use of AI and new Legal Services Platform.
