The Leading Hand Landscaper is responsible for supervising and actively participating in landscaping related to civil concreting works across multiple project sites. This role ensures works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to specification, while coordinating labour, materials, and equipment on site.
The position combines hands-on landscaping duties with team leadership, contributing to the successful delivery of civil infrastructure and commercial projects.

Task & responsibilities
Site Supervision & Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and supervise a small team of landscapers and labourers
- Allocate daily tasks and monitor productivity against project timelines
- Ensure all works are completed in accordance with drawings, specifications, and standards
- Liaise with Site Supervisors and other trades
Landscaping & Concreting Works
- Prepare sites and soils for landscaping works, including levelling, drainage, and ground preparation
- Read and interpret landscape plans, specifications, and set-out measurements to ensure accurate levels, gradients, and alignment
- Set out and construct landscape features including paving, retaining walls, edging, pathways, garden structures, and other hard landscaping elements
- Select, position, establish, and maintain turf, plants, trees, and shrubs in accordance with landscape plans and project specifications
- Install irrigation and drainage systems where required
- Monitor plant health and ensure appropriate landscaping techniques, materials, and maintenance practices are applied
- Operate plant, machinery, and landscaping equipment as required
Quality Assurance
- Monitor workmanship to ensure high-quality finishes
- Identify and rectify defects or non-conformances
- Ensure compliance with project specifications and client expectations
Health & Safety
- Enforce WHS requirements and safe work practices on site
- Conduct pre-starts and toolbox talks
- Identify hazards and implement control measures
- Ensure all team members use appropriate PPE
Resource Coordination
- Coordinate materials, tools, and equipment for daily tasks
- Assist with scheduling deliveries and managing site logistics
- Minimise waste and optimise resource use
Qualification & experience
Diploma level qualification or 3 years work experience in a similar role.
