Task & responsibilities
You will play a key role in supporting children’s daily routines, learning experiences, and overall well-being in a safe and inclusive environment. Working collaboratively with educators and families, you will help foster each child’s social, emotional, and cognitive development.
As the Group Leader you will:
- Create and implement a responsive educational program aligned with the EYLF, children’s interests, and developmental needs
- Follow the learning cycle through observation, planning, documentation, and reflection
- Maintain up-to-date and meaningful documentation, including learning stories, floorbooks, and developmental summaries
- Lead a nurturing and play-rich environment, fostering secure relationships with children and families
- Support children’s social and emotional development, promoting positive behaviours and respectful interactions
- Facilitate engaging learning experiences through stories, music, sensory play, group time, and hands-on provocations
- Respond to children’s cues with warmth, curiosity, and intention — reading, playing, and interacting to support emerging skills
- Oversee daily routines including meals, rest, toileting, and transitions, ensuring calm and consistent practice
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment, maintaining high standards for supervision, hygiene, and wellbeing
- Collaborate with your co-educators, sharing ideas, supporting each other’s growth, and contributing to a positive team culture
- Engage in ongoing professional learning, reflection, and team meetings to support high-quality practice
- Build strong partnerships with families, sharing learning, celebrating milestones, and supporting each child’s journey
Qualification & experience
- An Early Childhood Certificate III, IV and Diploma recognized at a Children’s Services Employee Level 4 or higher.
- At least 12 months of full time work experience in a related role
- Current First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis, and Asthma Management certifications.
- Strong administrative skills, with a knack for time management.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and positively with children and adults.
- Proven leadership skills and high self-motivation.
