Youth Express is a not-for-profit organisation that has serviced the Hunter region since 1993. Our vision is to empower people to successfully engage in their education, community and work.

This is an Indigenous - identified position. Applicants must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent (pursuant to Section 14 (d) of the Anti-discrimination act.
The successful application will be part of the Nyugumba Aboriginal Men's Program. The position will require a good understanding of the Port Stephens and Newcastle LGA’s, along with cultural understanding of requirements to engage Indigenous families and communities. You will be required to work across community organisations and statutory authorities to address the range of issues facing families and individuals. You will have the ability to provide case coordination (including record keeping) to assist participants to access any services that they require, share information (where agreed) and provide a holistic and coordinated service to:

• Reduce family violence

• Improve the safety of women and children

• Reduce physical and psychological abuse, neglect and trauma children experience due to family violence in the home

• Inhibit intergenerational cycle of violent behaviours caused by family violence

• Increase the number of individuals / families experiencing or at risk of violence who have a safety plan in place

• Improve subjective safety of individuals 

• Increase psychological wellbeing

• Reduce experiences of violence and improve family functioning

• Develop Risk Management Plans for all participants

You will implement an intensive case management model with the ability and empathy to provide emotional support or refer to specialist services where required and engage in therapeutic work with families to address behaviours and risk factors. This is a part time position based between our head office in Maitland and an identified delivery site in the Port Stephens LGA.
