This position requires a proactive leader capable of developing HR strategies that support business growth, staff engagement, and operational excellence across campuses.

Objectives of the Role

  • Develop and implement human resource strategies aligned with APC’s organisational goals and growth plans.
  • Establish and maintain HR policies and procedures in compliance with Australian employment legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead workforce planning initiatives, including recruitment, retention, and succession planning.
  • Promote a positive workplace culture, ensuring high levels of employee engagement and performance.
  • Provide strategic advice to senior management on HR matters, including workforce trends, compliance, and risk management.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic & Operational HR Management

  • Direct the organisation’s human resource activities, including recruitment, onboarding, training and development, performance management, and employee relations.
  • Develop, implement, and review HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Fair Work legislation, industrial instruments, and internal governance requirements.
  • Advise management on organisational restructuring, workforce planning, and staff development strategies.
  • Analyse workforce metrics and prepare reports for senior management to support informed decision-making.

Recruitment & Workforce Planning

  • Oversee end-to-end recruitment processes, including advertising, selection, interviewing, and appointment of staff.
  • Develop strategies to attract, retain, and develop high-performing employees across campuses.
  • Coordinate onboarding and induction programs to ensure effective integration of new staff.

Performance & Employee Relations

  • Design and manage performance appraisal systems and professional development frameworks.
  • Provide guidance and support on employee relations matters, including disciplinary processes, grievances, and conflict resolution.
  • Facilitate training initiatives to enhance leadership capability and compliance awareness.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with relevant employment legislation, workplace health and safety obligations, and education sector regulatory standards.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and oversee HR information systems.
  • Identify HR-related risks and implement mitigation strategies.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents encouraged to apply
  • Minimum 1 year relevant experience in human resource management (education sector experience highly regarded).
  • Bachelor degree or higher qualification in Human Resource Management, Business, or a related field. 
  • Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation and industrial relations frameworks.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organisational, and strategic planning skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Advanced computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and HR information systems.
