The role is full time, and the successful applicant will work with either stallions, broodmares, foals, young stock and/or yearlings.  We are looking for a motivated, determined & experienced individual who has professional horse stud experience. 

The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of industry best practice, with either international experience or a thorough understanding of the global trends of the thoroughbred industry.

Task & responsibilities

• Training and preparing horses to take commands, accept riders, to perform in competitions or for major sales
• Educating horses to be groomed and accept bridle, head collar, rug etc.
• Teaching horses to walk, stand and parade correctly
• Parade and caring for horses at sales
• Overseeing daily care and supervision of horses such as bathing, cutting, blow-drying etc.
• Re-educating horses to resolve problems such as biting and kicking 

Qualification & experience

All applicants must have a minimum of 3 years of full time professional experience in the role or a relevant qualification and at least 12 months full time professional experience in the role.   

In addition, the following will be required:

• Knowledge and experience of horse training and handling methods specific to thoroughbred breeding 
• Proven ability to train and educate young horses
• Proven as reliable workers, with excellent horsemanship skills
• Knowledge of safe operation of all equipment and use of personal protective equipment
