Task & responsibilities

As a Chef at Lipari Pizza Bar, your primary duties will include but are not limited to:

• Planning, preparing, and cooking a variety of Italian-inspired dishes, including pizzas, pastas, entrées, mains and desserts. 
• Overseeing the preparation of fresh local seafood.  
• Preparing & supervising our house made gnocchi every week that our customers have come to love. 
• Supervising and coordinating the activities of kitchen staff to ensure high standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene. 
• Assisting in designing and updating menu offerings based on seasonal ingredients and customer preferences while maintaining authenticity and quality. 
• Managing inventory and ordering supplies to ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen. 
• Maintaining compliance with food safety and hygiene standards as per local regulations. 
• Training and mentoring junior kitchen staff in food preparation techniques and kitchen procedures. 
• Ensuring that kitchen operations are efficient and cost-effective by controlling wastage and monitoring portion control. 
• Ensuring proper storage and rotation of ingredients in line with FIFO standards. 

Qualification & experience

• Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
• At least 2 to 3 years of experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen.
• Strong knowledge of Italian cuisine, especially pizza and pasta dishes, will be highly regarded.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage kitchen operations during peak hours.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and time management skills.
• Understanding of food safety practices and HACCP procedures.
