Coonamble District Funeral Service is seeking a mature, compassionate and reliable person to join our team as full-time Funeral Director. No previous funeral industry experience is required — we are looking for someone with the right attitude, empathy, and respect for families and community.
This role is suited to someone who is calm, organised, and genuinely caring, and who wants to support families with dignity and professionalism when they lose a loved one.
The Funeral Director supports families through the funeral process and helps coordinate services. You will receive full training and mentoring in all aspects of funeral service operations. You will assist with planning and coordinating funeral ceremonies, liaise with clergy, celebrants, cemeteries and crematoriums, provide guidance to families on available service options, ensure all services are conducted respectfully and professionally and provide support during funeral services and burials/cremations.

Essential:
Identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander with ability to provide proof of Aboriginality (mandatory),
Have strong computer, administrative and customer service skills
Willingness to learn how to conduct and coordinate funeral services
Excellent communication skills to interact with families, staff, clergy, and other stakeholders
Willingness to participate in an on-call after-hour’s roster which can include weekends and public holidays
Demonstrates a commitment to the CAHS code of conduct, equal employment opportunity, work health & safety and cultural safety framework
Current nationally coordinated criminal history check, NSW working with children’s check and unrestricted class C or P2 driver’s license
Candidates must be work‑ready, with all the required pre‑employment checks (police checks, WWCC, etc.) available to be submitted directly after the interview.
