Waterside Bistro is located at Empire Marina Bobbin Head - You must have your own transport as there is no public transport to the marina
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Full Time Sous Chef to join our close-knit team and help us deliver fresh, consistent, high-quality food to our customers.
To be successful in this role, you will be committed to delivering consistent, excellent customer service.
You will also maintain high kitchen hygiene standards and ensure compliance with Work Health and Safety policies.
You will work closely with our Chefs, Bistro Manager, and small team to run day-to-day operations, maintain high standards, and contribute to a positive team culture.
This role is primarily daytime work and includes every Saturday, Sunday, and public holiday, usually from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. You may also be required to work evening events and cover shifts for other team members when needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct food preparation and collaborate with the Head Chef
- Produce high-quality dishes with a focus on both presentation and taste
- Assist with menu planning, inventory control, and supply management
- Ensure food quality is consistently high and the kitchen is well maintained
- Contribute to a fun, high-energy team environment
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and quality control standards
- Work collaboratively with both front-of-house and back-of-house teams
- Work proactively and efficiently during busy service periods
About You
- At least one year of full-time experience as a Chef
- A relevant diploma-level qualification, or at least three years of relevant work experience in lieu of formal qualifications
- Excellent listening and communication skills
- Knowledge of a wide range of cooking methods, ingredients, and kitchen procedures
- A strong understanding of food safety standards and kitchen procedures
- The ability to walk, bend, and stand for extended periods
- A commitment to customer satisfaction and service excellence
- A willingness to work as part of a high-energy, efficient team in a fast-paced environment
- Available for weekday and weekend shifts
