We are seeking a full-time Mechanical Engineer to join our Dandenong-based operations. This role will support polymer machining, inspection, testing, and production optimisation activities, working closely with manufacturing and quality teams.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Mechanical Engineer, your duties will include (but are not limited to):
• Develop Specifications for the inspection of polymer products during machining processes to monitor deformation due to material internal stress.
• Compile reports on polymer deformation with measured material physical properties and co-ordinate with the molding department to establish inspection and quality control testing measures (temperature and pressure adjustments) during processing.
• Investigate new production methods and establish standards and policies for polymer
machining to reduce deformation due to internal stress.
• Supervise the operation of tensile test and wear testing laboratory equipment to obtain the mechanical properties of new polymer grades
• Adhere To Prosind Q.A. and Safety Requirements and Prosind code of Conduct
Other Responsibilities:
• Oversee machinery maintenance to ensure optimum performance is maintained
The Ideal Candidate
To be successful in this role, you will have:
• A recognized Engineering qualification (Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical, Materials, or Chemical Engineering)
• Experience operating material testing instrumentation, including tensile testing and wear testing machines
• Experience in PLC programming
Required Attributes
• Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues across engineering, production, and quality teams
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and dimensions
• Ability to measure components using inspection equipment such as verniers and micrometers
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills within an industrial or manufacturing environment
Physical & Other Considerations
• Materials handled typically weigh between 1–20 kg
• Mechanical lifting devices are available when materials exceed safe manual handling limits
• A general level of physical fitness is required
