SAYU is seeking a motivated and experienced Chef to join our team on a full-time basis. We are looking for someone who is organised, reliable, and passionate about delivering high-quality food and service in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
About the Role
The Chef will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, stock control, food safety, and maintaining kitchen standards during service periods.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and present menu items to restaurant standards
- Maintain consistency in food quality, portion control, and presentation
- Assist with kitchen preparation and service periods
- Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment
- Follow all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation procedures
- Ensure correct food handling, storage, labelling, and temperature control
- Assist with stock rotation, ordering, and inventory management
- Minimise food waste and assist with cost control practices
- Work cooperatively with kitchen and front-of-house staff
- Assist with menu development, specials, and seasonal dishes where required
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and report maintenance issues promptly
- Assist with training and supporting junior kitchen staff where required
Qualifications Required
- Relevant Diploma OR Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification preferred
Experience Required
- Minimum of 12 months full time experience working in a commercial kitchen or restaurant environment
- Experience working in a fast-paced hospitality venue preferred
- Experience in Japanese and Asian cuisine preferred.
