Full-Time Chef – Degani Benton Square

Degani Benton Square is seeking an experienced and passionate Chef to join our dynamic team on a full-time basis. This role will see you taking responsibility for day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring dishes are prepared and presented to the highest standard while maintaining efficiency and compliance with food safety requirements.

Task & responsibilities

• Planning and developing menus in line with seasonal availability and customer preferences.
• Estimating food and labour costs and managing stock levels effectively.
• Ordering and sourcing high-quality food supplies.
• Monitoring quality and consistency of dishes during all stages of preparation and presentation.
• Collaborating with managers, dietitians, kitchen, and service staff to resolve food preparation issues.
• Demonstrating advanced cooking techniques and providing guidance on procedures.
• Preparing, cooking, and presenting a wide variety of dishes.
• Enforcing hygiene, food safety, and workplace health regulations.
• Training, supervising, and mentoring junior kitchen staff where required.
• Freezing, preserving, and storing foods in line with best practice.

Qualification & experience

• 2–3 years of proven experience as a Chef in a busy kitchen.
• Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or a relevant qualification.
• Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
• A passion for food, creativity, and excellence in presentation.
• Thorough understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
