About the Role
We are seeking a Family Support Workers to provide practical, emotional and casework support to families experiencing vulnerability, including those impacted by disability, family stress, domestic challenges, and social disadvantage.
The role involves working collaboratively with families, children, and relevant stakeholders to strengthen parenting capacity, improve family functioning, and promote safe and supportive home environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver person-centred family support services in accordance with individual case plans
- Conduct family needs assessments and develop support strategies
- Support parents in developing positive parenting skills and routines
- Support families with children living with disability in implementing NDIS plans
- Assist with coordination of supports and service provider engagement
- Support culturally diverse families with culturally responsive practice
- Assist families in building informal support networks
- Assist families to access community services, healthcare, education and housing support
- Provide practical in-home support and guidance
- Monitor child wellbeing and safety in accordance with safeguarding frameworks
- Provide early intervention support to prevent family breakdown
- Support families experiencing domestic stress, financial hardship, or housing instability
- Assist clients during crisis situations and connect them to emergency services where required
- Develop safety plans in collaboration with families at risk
- Maintain accurate case notes, progress reports and documentation
- Monitor goal progress in line with NDIS Practice Standards
- Liaise with external stakeholders including schools, allied health professionals and government agencies
- Promote social inclusion and community participation
- Ensure compliance with NDIS Practice Standards and child safeguarding requirements
Essential Requirements
- AQF Diploma or higher qualification in Community Services, Social Work, Family Support or related field
- Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in family support, disability support worker, community services or casework
- Demonstrated understanding of child protection and safeguarding principles
- Knowledge of person-centred and strengths-based approaches
- Strong communication and report-writing skills
- Current National Police Clearance
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Working With Children Check (WWCC)
- Current First Aid & CPR
- Valid WA Driver’s Licence
