Technical skills, abilities and cultural capability
- Demonstrated experience in the leadership and management of teams in a forensic biology environment.
- Proven expertise in the ability to conduct and self-manage high quality forensic casework of a complex nature including:
- detection, identification and analysis of materials encountered in casework
- the interpretation of analytical results, including statistical interpretations where relevant
- report writing and presentation of opinion evidence in court.
- Highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills, and verbal and written ability to impart specialist knowledge to diverse groups.
- Proven ability to monitor client and stakeholder satisfaction and constructively manage client/stakeholder issues to ensure positive outcomes for clients, stakeholder, and the Department.
- Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and reviewing policies and procedures relating to a forensic scientific laboratory.
- Proven experience in forensic biology and laboratory practice, and experience in developing, implementing and reviewing policies and procedures in accordance with the legislation, regulations and standards that apply to a multidisciplinary laboratory organisation.
- Proven ability to coordinate the implementation of contemporary and innovative scientific processes, procedures and concepts and to encourage their application and acceptance by staff and clients.
- Substantial knowledge of contemporary forensic sciences professional standards, service delivery requirements and management techniques, including knowledge and understanding of quality systems and national accreditation programs (in particular NATA/ISO accreditation).
