The Position

Scotch College has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, passionate and innovative educator to join our Senior School English team. We are seeking the candidate to commence in Term 3, 2026 or as soon as available. This is a permanent, full-time position.

They will also be able to demonstrate their dedication and commitment to improving student outcomes and their ability to work collaboratively within a cohesive and motivated faculty.

The successful candidate will:

  • hold qualifications in secondary English teaching and be able to demonstrate outstanding practice in a secondary context (Year 9 – 12).

  • possess any recognised teaching qualification suitable for secondary English instruction.

  • have experience teaching either General English, ATAR English and/or ATAR Literature. Experience of teaching the IB Diploma is desirable but not necessary, but an openness to be trained to teach the IB Diploma is essential.

  • hold a high level of WA curriculum knowledge and an ability to impart this knowledge to students effectively.

  • be collaborative, flexible and able to work in a team environment.

  • have experience in effectively managing the pastoral needs of students.

  • demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills in interactions with colleagues, parents and students.

  • apply exceptional pedagogical principles in the classroom including the appropriate use of ICT skills, and creative and critical thinking tools.

  • demonstrate a willingness to contribute to our extensive programme of co-curricular activities.
