At SJ Power, we believe every home on the Coast should run on its own renewable energy. Bills and black outs a thing of the past.
Our mission is simple: help households across the Central Coast, Newcastle, and Hunter cut their power bills to zero with solar and batteries — designed honestly, installed properly, backed for the long haul.
Since launching in 2019, we've grown rapidly doing exactly that. We've earned a reputation as one of the best in the game by doing whatever it takes to get the job right, owning our work, and standing behind it for life.
We're not slowing down.
With strong demand, a powerful brand, and a team that's raising the standard — we're now looking for an elite solar roofer to join us.
This isn't just another roofing gig.
Every system we put on a roof is part of getting another household to a zero bill. That only works if the install is done properly, weatherproof, and built to the high standards we carry. That's where you come in.
You'll be on the roof across a steady pipeline of residential solar and battery jobs — laying out arrays, fixing rails, flashing penetrations properly, and mounting panels. You'll work alongside a tight-knit team that gets the job done right the first time and stands behind it for the long haul.
You're not average — and you don't want to be.
You:
Take pride in your workmanship and hate cutting corners
Do whatever it takes to get the job right, even when no one's watching
Show up on time, every time, and do what you say you'll do
Are confident and safe on a roof in all conditions
Have strong attention to detail — straight rows, clean flashings, no leaks
Are proactive, you don't wait to be told what to do
Communicate honestly with the sparkies, the customer, and the rest of the team
Want to grow, improve, and be part of something bigger
You're the type of person who:
Sees problems and fixes them before they become callbacks
Takes ownership of the roof from set-up to pack-down
Treats the customer's home like it's your own
Wants to be recognised and rewarded for performance
Delivering high-quality install work on the roof
Erecting edge protection and/or harness anchor points
Mounting brackets, rails, cabling, on tile, tin, Klip-Lok and standing seam roofs
Weatherproof penetrations and flashings done right the first time
Panel installation to manufacturer spec and CEC guidelines
Photos and documentation as required
Owning the job from start to finish
Communicate clearly with the electrician on the job and with the customer
Keep the install on time and to scope
Leave the roof, gutters, and site cleaner than you found them
Representing the SJ Power standard
Look after the customer's home like it's your own
Uphold our reputation for quality and reliability
Support and mentor newer team members where needed
Solid solar install experience on residential roofs
Working at Heights ticket (current)
White Card
Confident with harness systems and edge protection
Strong problem-solving on the roof — odd rafter spacings, awkward layouts, dodgy existing flashings
High attention to detail and pride in workmanship
Valid driver's licence
A proactive, can-do attitude
Work with a high-performing team that actually cares about quality
Be part of a fast-growing company with real career progression
Steady pipeline of residential solar and battery work across the Central Coast, Newcastle, and Hunter
A culture built on doing whatever it takes, owning your role, and earning the rewards
Opportunity to build a long-term career — not just have a job
Be recognised and rewarded for the work you put in
