We are seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistant for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Creaney Education Support Centre (ESC) caters for students with Special Needs aged between four and twelve years old. Our students have varying degrees of intellectual and/or physical disabilities and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). With specially trained staff and well- appointed facilities, we are able to offer individualised programs that best suit the diverse needs of each of our students within a safe and inclusive environment. We share a campus with Creaney Primary School in the suburb of Kingsley. This location allows us to offer a range of opportunities for students to integrate with their mainstream peers
The Role
Suitable applicants will, under teacher direction, assist in the implementation of specialised education programs as well as therapy programs. You will also, when required, provide feedback on education and therapy programs and participate in the evaluation process relating to the achievement of goals in special education. As a Special Needs Education Assistant, you will provide feedback to the teacher on student progress.
Suitable applicants should possess the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with staff, students and teachers. Experience with students with ASD and knowledge of Treatment and Education of Autistic and Related Communication-Handicapped Children (TEACCH), Individual Education Plans (IEPs), Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), Augmentative and Alternative Communication, Key Word Sign, and Team Teach training would be highly desirable
