About the role:
Due to continuous and exciting growth, we are currently recruiting for Casual Disability Support Staff.
In recruiting our newest team members, we are looking for staff who are reliable, caring and are passionate in making a difference. Minimum Certificate 3 Individual Support disability work or higher or willing to obtain this qualification.
The role will include but is not limited to Centre base Programs, in-home support and community access, scheduling and attending appointments, liaising with medical practitioners, personal care, accompanying / assisting the participant to physio and aqua appointments, shopping, outings and activities, public transport and confidence when responding to medical emergencies as required.
Duties & responsibilities may include, but are not limited to other related support worker duties:
· Meal preparation
· Implementing participant’s support / care plan
· Support with domestic activities and assistance with personal care
· Work to provide appropriate support to improve the participants’ level of independence
· Assist with community participation, skill & relationship building, and various other needs
· Medication assistance
· Accurate completion of incident reports, progress reports and shift handovers as required
· Observe and document progress and changes through detailed note keeping
· Team updates
Essential:
· Understanding of the NDIS & commitment to its principles
· Proficient, clear, and effective written & verbal English communication skills
· Current NDIS worker Screening yellow card
· Current working with children blue card
· Current First Aid & CPR certifications
· Current Australian driver’s license
· Safe and reliable vehicle
· Fully comprehensive vehicle insurance
· Availability for day, morning, afternoons, evenings, with potential for weekends flexible roster
· Certificate NDIS Worker Orientation Module – Quality, Safety and You’
· Certificate NDIS Supporting Safe and Enjoyable Meals Module
· Cert 111 Individual Support – disability or aged care work or higher
· USI number (Unique Student Identifier)
Experience in the following is desirable:
· In – home support and community access
· Intellectual disability
· Epilepsy / Seizure management
· Autism spectrum
· Cerebral Palsy
· Vison impairment
· Manual handling
· Assisting participant with personal care, showering prompting if required
· Retail and Hospitality (ROPE runs traineeships in both these areas)
Skills:
· Good communication skills – verbal and written
· Competent in basic computer skills, outlook email and internet, sending and receiving emails
· Ability to work independently or in a team
· Ability to write basic reports
· Openness to learn and follow directions
