We are seeking a reliable and experienced Truck Driver to join our team. The role involves the safe and timely pick-up, transportation, and delivery of customer goods across the road network. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to road safety, compliance with transport regulations, and excellent customer service when dealing with clients.

Task & responsibilities

Duties

  • Operate heavy vehicles safely in compliance with road laws, NHVAS requirements, fatigue management standards, and company procedures.
  • Pick up, load, transport, and deliver customer goods in a timely manner, ensuring items remain secure and undamaged.
  • Unload goods at designated delivery points using safe and approved manual handling techniques.
  • Complete delivery documentation accurately, including dockets, manifests, and electronic processing through company systems.
  • Conduct pre-start and daily vehicle inspections, reporting faults and arranging necessary maintenance.
  • Perform basic vehicle upkeep such as checking fuel, oil, tyres, and fluid levels.
  • Plan and follow efficient routes in line with delivery schedules and traffic conditions.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of company vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all transport operations comply with road transport regulations, NHVAS standards, and company safety policies.
  • Safeguard customer goods by applying correct load restraint and handling procedures.
  • Deliver goods in line with company quality standards, ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Uphold workplace health and safety practices to minimise risks and hazards.
  • Provide professional customer service, including responding to client queries at pick-up and delivery points.
  • Maintain effective communication with the State Operations Manager and operations team regarding schedules, delays, or incidents.
  • Represent the company professionally at all times, promoting a positive and reliable image.

Qualification & experience

  • A valid Heavy Vehicle Licence (HR or higher, depending on vehicle type) 
  • At least a relevant AQF Certificate II or higher qualification (or equivalent); OR at least 2 years of relevant work experience may substitute for the qualification – Mandatory
  • At least minimum 1 year of work experience as Truck Driver
  • Manual handling experience and good physical fitness 
  • Ability to complete paperwork accurately and use electronic delivery systems 
  • Knowledge of NHVAS requirements 
  • Good communication and customer service skills 
  • Previous experience in logistics, transport, or furniture removals
  • Good physical fitness and endurance for manual handling tasks
  • Experience with GPS and electronic logbook systems
  • Ability to complete documentation accurately and handle delivery paperwork
  • Good communication and customer service skills
