Position Overview:

We are currently seeking four (4) experienced Retail Supervisors to join our growing team and support the smooth operation of our stores.

As a Retail Supervisor at Lhere Artepe Supermarkets, you play a hands-on leadership role, ensuring day-to-day store operations run efficiently and in alignment with our mission to empower the local Arrernte community. You will assist the Store Manager with operational performance, foster a strong service culture, and lead staff in delivering a high-quality customer experience. Your work directly supports local employment, sustainable retail practices, and community wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership and Development:

- Lead and supervise frontline team members across various departments

- Provide training and guidance to staff, ensuring high performance and adherence to procedures

- Promote an inclusive and supportive team culture that aligns with LAE’s values

- Contribute to the recruitment and development of Indigenous staff members

Store Operations and Compliance:

- Support efficient store operations, including opening and closing procedures

- Monitor product availability, shelf presentation, and merchandising standards

- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety (WHS) policies and retail regulations

- Assist in rostering, delegation of tasks, and maintaining store cleanliness and organisation

Customer Service and Experience:

- Deliver exceptional customer service, handle enquiries and resolve complaints professionally

- Ensure customers are supported by knowledgeable and helpful team members

- Lead by example to create a welcoming and respectful store environment

Inventory and Financial Control:

- Support stock control, including ordering, receiving, and stocktake functions

- Manage cash handling procedures, register balancing, and store banking

- Report on operational outcomes, including wastage, shrinkage, and team performance

Strategic and Community Engagement:

- Implement store-level initiatives aligned with LAE’s strategic plan

- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts through innovation and feedback

- Participate in community-driven initiatives and engage respectfully with local stakeholders

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

- Team performance, engagement, and training compliance

- Store presentation and customer satisfaction levels

- Accuracy and timeliness in cash handling and inventory processes

- Compliance with WHS and operational policies

- Contribution to LAE’s strategic and community goals

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

- Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in retail or frontline customer service roles

- Demonstrated ability to supervise and lead a team

- Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills

- Proficiency in retail operations, including point-of-sale systems and inventory practices

- Availability to work across a 7-day roster, including weekends and public holidays

Desirable:

- Prior experience as a team leader or supervisor in a retail environment

- Exposure to community-based or Indigenous-focused workplaces

- Certificate III or IV in Retail Operations, Leadership, or Business

Position Conditions:

- This is a full-time, ongoing position (minimum 38 hours/week)

- The duties align with the occupation of Retail Supervisor under ANZSCO Code 621511

- The position is based in Alice Springs and not of a seasonal or casual nature

- The successful applicant must be willing to live and work in the Northern Territory
